In covering the three eras encompassed in Capitalist Rising, focus will be placed on the great economic changes that occurred with respect to the capitalist mode of production. These include the monetary and financial environment, productivity improvements, technological revolutions, trade, and the segmentation of world markets by Western European society. Another set of issues were the entrepreneurs themselves and the methods and strategies they developed for success. The prevailing business environment of each era will be highlighted, as well as the establishment of increasingly sophisticated companies, the role of early international capitalism and its place relative to governing states, and lastly, the discoveries of new sources and markets and their implications for the development of capitalism.
Capitalist Rising is divided into overlapping, chronologically segmented chapters. The reader may find some redundancy which is felt necessary in order to amplify certain characteristics, as well as to insure that each geographic region and era is properly portrayed. The assessments included herein focus on several specific states that best demonstrate or contrast the evolution of the capitalist ideal. This focus does not mean that others were not also participants, but those are minimized in the interests of brevity.
