This book explores the topic of leadership which is critically important in all aspects of life, and particularly as it related to organizational success. Leadership is particularly important in the business arena as effective leadership is probably the most critical element leading to goal accomplishment.
Many people think that leaders are born to be leaders. The reality is that leadership skills can be learned – and some of the best leaders in history and in business have learned to be leaders. This book explores the difference between leadership and management. It examines key characteristics and traits of effective leaders.
The book also profiles examples of effective leaders in history and in the business world who have accomplished great things directly relating to their leadership abilities. I also discuss some specific leaders that I worked for who had a direct impact on my personal leadership style.
I close the book with a challenge for all people in leadership positions to reflect on what they are doing well – what their strengths are - and on areas they need to improve in order to be the best leaders they can be.
