This publication is a practitioner's approach to criminal justice management. The information is less academic and more the practical application on concepts and issues affecting professionals in the criminal justice system. There are examples and comparisons of the three components of the system; law enforcement, courts and corrections. The mention of private sector management is also previewed in contrast to public sector management such as the criminal justice system. The information contained within gives Criminal Justice students knowledge of what to expect not only from management but an overview of structures, management, leadership, motivation and communications in organizations, businesses and corporations. Although most students will not immediately go into a management or leadership position, the information contained in this publication with assist the student in understanding the importance of mid level management in criminal justice systems and the private sector.
