It is my hope that this textbook will encourage a desire to learn more about society; it’s patterns of social relationships and social interaction, social inequalities and culture.

About the Author
Susan Cruise

Dr. Susan Cruise is originally from Alberta, Canada! Her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees are both in Counseling Psychology, and her Doctorate (Ph.D.) is in Sociology. Most of Dr. Cruise’s research has been centered on topics related to social inequalities including the academic persistence of at-risk student groups, and she has been a co-editor for textbooks including Social Problems: A Case Study Approach 5th edition (2019). She has also contributed to studies on various aspects of non-profit organizations. She enjoys teaching college students very much, and her favorite teaching experiences as a professor thus far have been leading groups of her students on short-term study abroad trips to London, Paris and Amsterdam (2017); Ireland and Northern Ireland (2019) and to Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, and Austria (2022) where she taught the Sociology of Culture each time.
