We developed Reading, Thinking, Learning to act as the companion text to Reading, Thinking, Writing, and with the same goals in mind of developing a textbook and resources that are more affordable than most textbooks and more useful than other discounted resources that have been made available to students.
With Reading, Thinking, Learning, we developed a textbook to foster your ability to develop your knowledge in response to the demands you will face in the coming years. Reading is college is dramatically different from reading in most casual situations since you need to ensure you understand challenging and sophisticated materials, commit much of it to memory and be able to analyze it and develop an insight into it. That’s not easy, but it is not only possible but necessary as you work your way to being a college educated adult. And that is what you are becoming.
We have provided materials in Canvas to allow you to practice the skills you will read about in the text itself. The goal is to move you to a point where you can develop your own expertise in just about any subject you may encounter while in college.
