Charl Mattheus has been an Assistant Professor in Healthcare Administration & Internship Program Coordinator at the Department of Public Health, California State University, Sacramento, since 2017. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Management and Master of Business (MBA) with Specialization in Healthcare Management at Indiana Wesleyan University. He completed his Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) with Specialization in Healthcare Management at Walden University. Dr. Mattheus’ research interest is focused on managerial intervention strategies to reduce patient appointment no-show rates and to optimize health care facilities, operational procedures, and efficiency in providing better continuity and quality of care. His additional research focuses on health economics and finance. He started teaching at Florida Gateway College in 2003. Over the years, he taught in undergraduate, masters, and doctoral degree programs at the University of Hawaii, Indiana Wesleyan University, Grantham University, and Saint Joseph’s University. He enjoys teaching in a traditional classroom setting as well as online adult educational interaction. Dr. Mattheus is also a Tenure Faculty Member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, ACHE, since 2011.
Dr. Mattheus has more than two decades of healthcare management and administration experience and held several managerial positions throughout his career. He was the Academic Healthcare Administrator for the Division of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology at the University of Florida Health Science Center & Shands Academic Hospital for several years before he became a full-time faculty.
