Overview of
Style and Panache: How the Music Makes the Movie

Discovery

Style and Panache: How The Music Makes the Movie" is an introductory eTextbook designed to come alive with moving image and sound.  The presentation of topics shifts the focus away from chronological study of film music and instead categorizes it into its various stylistic genres.  The result is a book that promotes listening and analysis skills, as well as the appreciation of the history of the global world of film music.  The textbook body incorporates actual film clips, engaging images, straightforward language, and interactive learning checkpoints.  Over the course of 20 chapters, the most common styles of film music are dissected and explored through case studies of some of the most iconic films in history. The marvel of film music is that it is an ongoing global artistic phenomenon that continues to evolve every year. To study film music is to embrace the idea that the journey matters more than the destination. This eTextbook can be used  as a springboard into that journey.
