We undertook the project of developing a textbook that would be more affordable and more effective for students to learn to write effectively at the college and university-level as they begin their academic careers.
We saw that most rhetorical and college composition textbooks do a wonderful job of walking students through the writing process, grammatical issues and rhetorical modes, but those books and resources have always been so very expensive. We also saw that many resources have been made available for free in one form or another, but those resources are often incomplete or difficult to use.
We have put together Reading, Thinking, Writing to reflect what is available in most textbooks on English grammar and rhetorical strategies but also to make the textbook and resources available at a more affordable price. We also support this text with resources in Canvas so students can learn, practice and perfect their college-level writing skills.
