“Deciphering Dance: Appreciation Through Analysis is unique in that it cultivates Laban Movement Analysis skills for analyzing dance materials by identifying the salient qualities of Body, Effort, Space, and Shape while promoting an appreciation for dance and one’s own personal aesthetic. In addition to choreography and concert dance, the textbook investigates social, participatory, religious, and political dance in conjunction with predominant cultural and historical forces and figures.
All dance viewings, examples, interactive assignments, and quizzes are placed directly within the digital publication to streamline efficiency for the student.”
