Dwan M. Bridges, PhD, CAPE, is a professor in the School of Kinesiology and Nutritional Science at California State University, Los Angeles. She completed her doctoral degree in Adapted Physical Education from The Ohio State University. Currently, she teaches the written communication course for the kinesiology discipline and has served as the coordinator for the Adapted Physical Education program. She also has master’s degrees in Education Administration and Criminal Justice Administration. Dwan has dedicated the past 28 years to the professional community and is well known worldwide for her leadership and scholarly activities. She serves as secretary for the International Federation of Adapted Physical Activity and has held many key leadership positions for professional organizations. Her research interests are individuals with disabilities, parent perceptions of services, mentoring, and motor skill development. Dwan is a published author and has presented at professional conferences on six continents.
